Our purpose and history
Our mission is to create and to add value for our clients by providing quality accountancy services and business advice that will enable our clients to achieve their personal or business goals.
We achieve this by:
- Understanding and anticipating our client’s needs and fulfilling them at a cost that is reasonable and competitive thus providing them with value for money.
- Equipping our clients with necessary advice and information to start/manage their own businesses.
- Assist our clients to meet the statutory obligations required of them: deadlines and compliance.
- Providing added value to our clients by giving them business and tax advice.
The practice was established in 1975 by Colin Rackstraw who had qualified as a chartered accountant whilst working for Oldham Holland and Co, a local firm. The firm had decided to merge with a bigger national firm. Colin felt that this would not benefit the local clients as the amalgamation meant that prices for the accounting services would go up. He therefore, set up his own practice then known as Rackstraw and Co to provide clients with services at reasonable cost and cater for the needs of the local clients. Colin had to purchase business premises as well as recruit staff in order to cope with the growing demand for his services.
In 1984 Philip Rackstraw, Colin’s son joined the ever growing staff and duly qualified as a chartered certified accountant. The firm was incorporated in 1995 and became known as Dashwoods limited. Philip took over the firm in 2006 and has continued to grow the practice providing the best possible service to our clients.
The firm is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and is fully equipped with the necessary technological and human resources to serve its clients and to continue providing excellent professional service at competitive fees.
